Basket-weaving
Our team comes into contact with people who know how to make objects through the art of basket weaving and wickerwork.
We record and study the raw materials used by the artisans as well as the processing and creation processes of each object. Then we investigate the promotion of the products and their entry into the market with the distribution networks. At the same time, we gather folkloric and ethno-anthropological data on this art which constitutes an important chapter of the cultural identity of our country.
Our purpose is to map the artisan activity of basket-weaving in all stages, the difficulties and needs of the sector, the strong and weak points and the prospects for development in order to plan interventions that benefit the artisans of the island.
Recordings are ongoing, data will be released in the last quarter of 2023.
